Drought resistant gardening

Despite our perception overall rainfall is decreasing in the Lincolnshire/Cambridgeshire areas. We need to consider therefore what types of plants are more suitable for drier conditions. Tony Boughen examined the different types of leaf plants used to minimise water loss and methods we can use to make the most of watering. Tony also made available a list of drought resistant plants which may be downloaded from this link: Drought Resistant Plants.pdf

Use of rainwater catchment to save costly mains water and drenching plants at night time is far more practical than watering ‘little and often’ when most of the water is lost through evaporation.
